So, post your main character's back story in this thread, short or long, mary sue or legit RP story, share it! I'll start with what I have written in my character's record:

Born on a border world to Starfleet parents, Arturus John Calaphel sought to join the ranks of Starfleet at a very young age. He quickly became know as 'John' to his academy contemporaries, considered more fitting than the whimsical 'Arturus.' As Calaphel rose through the ranks of starfleet, he experienced great frustration at the constant political tumult of the Alpha Quadrant.
After the Dominion War, Calaphel organized a regular meeting of Cardassians, Romulans, Klingons, and Federation Member Races whom he had fought with in the War. This regular meeting grew into a semi-clandestine organization known as Section 32. This organization's self-appointed purpose is to maintain the political stability of the Quadrant, and to quietly push toward a unified Alpha Quadrant. The Federation Council knows of, and secretly sanctions, Section 32.
Section 32's most recent project has been collaboration with the fledgling Romulan Republic on New Romulus. The new government was approached with the idea to have a joint Romulan/Federation ship. This ship is the U.S.S. Sword: An old Heavy Escort Carrier spaceframe, recommissioned and refitted for this joint mission. Flying under the aegis of the Federation, the ship is manned by several Romulan bridge officers, and is equipped with Romulan weaponry. It even includes a contingent of Romulan Scorpions and, of course, the pilots to fly them. Section 32 hopes that this collaboration will both bring the Romulan Republic a little of the strength of the Old Empire, and the Federation a bit of Romulan tactics and thinking.
The dedication plaque on the U.S.S. Sword reads:
"Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are,
One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
The U.S.S. Sword represents a melding of modern Federation and newly acquired Borg technologies, with a refit design influenced heavily by the Romulan contributors to the project.
