Career Data File:
- Born in 2375 in Anchorage, Alaska to Thomas and Lillian Miracle. Raised in Anchorage for 10 years when his father was recalled from Shore Duty to be the Chief Tactical Officer of the U.S.S. Richmond (Galaxy-class), where his mother also served a Science Officer when it cataloged energy readings along the Romulan Neutral zone. James Miracle’s family has always been one of service. Both of his parents as well as Grandparents served in Starfleet. His family heritage has been traced through the many branches of the military of the United States of America, all the way to a Grandfather who served in Earth’s Korean War.

-James Miracle attended Starfleet Academy in 2396 after winning entry when he participated in escorting crew to the Saucer Section of the U.S.S. Richmond when the Plasma Relays for the Warp Core failed. The Engineering Section then exploded, killing over 10 crewmen, including his mother. James was raised by his father the rest of his childhood while attending Starfleet Academy. This made him choose to be a Tactical Officer his junior year as a career choice.

- His attending Starfleet Academy launched his career. He was an average cadet with modest grades and participated in the Academy Honor Guard for his stay at the school. In doing so rose its awareness around the school. [*2] James scored higher than average during Tactical exercises of Starship Combat at the Academy, thus sparking more interest in the Tactical Field. During his Junior year of the Academy he began to tinker with handheld phaser weapons. He joined the Academy Rifle team and competed for a year, picking up his habit of using more precise weapons such as Phaser Sniper Rifles during ground combat. However he was always more comfortable behind his Tactical Console on the bridge or in the ship's Armory. Following his graduation and commissioning, Ensign Miracle's first duty station was the U.S.S. Contour as a Junior Tactical Officer working in the ship's Torpedo Room.

- In 2405 Ensign James Miracle was assigned to the U.S.S. Contour (Centaur-class) as Junior Tactical Officer. In 2407 the U.S.S. Contour was attacked by the Borg during an encounter on a routine patrol. Ensign Miracle was one of the first responders to the bridge during the attack, when he realized the senior crew was dead, he took command of the ship and fought off the enemy vessel until Starfleet reinforcements arrived. Upon returning to Starbase 01, he was given command of the Contour and carried out missions until Stardate: 87935.13.

- On that date he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and given command of the Escort Ship U.S.S. Guadalcanal (Saber-class), in addition was ordered to the 12th Fleet after operating individually for over a year. Eventually assigned to the 12th Fleet, Tactical Division, Delta Squadron, James Miracle then took missions under Starfleet Command to the Klingon Neutral Zone for patrols of the sector. The Guadalcanal, in only 4 months of service, had seen more action along the border than over half the ships stationed at K-7 Space Station, thus the crew earning the Extraneous Combat Duty Award. After several fleet engagements, the Guadalcanal was put on mandatory reserve status patrolling the Risa Sector for 2 months on Stardate: 87945.01. During this over all tour of duty, the Guadalcanal had lost 63 crewman as Killed In Action and 44 as Wounded In Action. This was recorded as a 214 percent casualty rate, the highest in Starfleet ever recorded in the war thus far. [*1]

- Following it’s mandatory reserve tour, the U.S.S. Guadalcanal joined with a number of other 12th Fleet ships in a deployment to Romulan space to deter offensive operations. This went on for half a year, when Lt. Cmd Miracle was recalled to Starbase 01 on Stardate: 87995.16. At that time James Miracle was promoted to Commander and given command of the U.S.S. Coral Sea (Akira-class) Heavy Escort. The Coral Sea’s first assignments have been exploration missions in the Khazan Cluster and soon after some weapons upgrades were sent on patrols deep in Romulan Space.

- The Coral Sea finished a 10-month tour of deployment along the Romulan Neutral Zone on Stardate: 87997.25. During this deployment the Coral Sea's mission was to support science operations in the region by providing security in the nearby sectors. The ship was involved in numberous engagements with remnants of the Romulan Imperial Fleet, all but a few resulted in victories. Following the tour, the U.S.S. Coral Sea's combat record concluded in having 14 "kills" on various Romulan ships in support of operations in the region, with a Unit Casualty Rate of 33%. Soon afterward, the Coral Sea was re-stationed to Deep Space 9 to curb True Way incursions into Federation Space. The Coral Sea continued this duty for a year, when an ambush by True Way vessels in the Badlands left the ship heavily damaged. Limping back home on impulse power for a week, the Coral Sea had its warp engines repaired enough to fall back to Starbase 001 at Earth. Once there, it was decided that the Coral Sea was too far gone to be repaired for full duty and was Mothballed at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards for extra parts.

As Starfleet Command looked into its expansion of the escort corps of the fleet, the Coral Sea and a few other mothballed escorts were pulled from the graveyard and repaired enough to be test vessels for various systems of the Armitage Project. Slowly over course of a year and a half, the Coral Sea and other badly damaged ships of its class became the most modified and powerful ships of the fleet, considering their reserve status. Once the Armitage Escorts started to launch, there was an influx of demand for modified escorts within the fleet. Being a testbed for the new class, the Coral Sea was selected to be entirely refitted from the ground up to meet the needs of the fleet. Its refit was completed in 2411, just a half a year after the Armitage launch and has been stationed to Deep Space Nine and Battle Group Omega since.

Commander Miracle was transferred to various stations over the course of a year and a half. From the U.S.S. Contour-A (Galaxy-Class), the U.S.S. Wake Island (Defiant-Class), U.S.S. Contour-B (Sovereign-class), and U.S.S. Forsaken (Vanguard-class). Since the Coral Sea's reactivation into the Active Starfleet, Commander Miracle has been requested to be its captain. It has been stationed at Battle Group Omega in the Cestus Sector for up to ten, eight month tours of duty against the Borg and is currently stationed at Starbase 243 to aid in the development and security of New Romulus.

- Commander Miracle was requested to join the rest of the 12th Fleet aboard the U.S.S. Redmage for a Fleet Commander Conference when the Redmage suffered difficulties and crash landed on an unknown planet. James managed to escape the crash with the help of other 12th Fleet Captains and helped establish Fort Schwartz which he was in command. While in command of the base, he was in charge of launching an attack against the hostile aliens that forced the Redmage to crash on the planet, an attack that failed. Following their escape of the planet, Commander Miracle returned to his post on the Coral Sea.

Major accomplishments:
- Fought on U.S.S. Rogers during the battle of Sector 001 as Junior Tactical Officer. Recently promoted to Lt Commander and given command of the U.S.S. Guadalcanal after a successful fleet action against the Klingon Grand Battle Fleet aboard the U.S.S. Contour.

- Survive the crash of the U.S.S. Redmage, then creating and commanding Fort Schwartz to help the remaining crew get off the downed planet.

-Numerous tours of duty against the Borg in both fleet actions and ground engagements. Roughly ten, eight month tours to his credit.

The Coral Sea:
Image

History: Like many escort ships of Starfleet, the ship was named after a famed battle of Earth's history. The Coral Sea was named after the Earth battle of the Coral Sea during the Second World War. This famed battle between the Imperial Japanese Fleet and the US Pacific Fleet decided the fate of continued Japanese expansion around New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. The Coral Sea was one of the more strategic battles that decided the fate of the Pacific War.

First commissioned in 2404, the Coral Sea designated NCC-93529 was one of the more recent Akira-class Escort produced. For the first two years of its service, the Coral Sea was stationed at Starbase K-7 to patrol the Klingon Neutral Zone under the command of another captain. In that time it participated in five engagements when the Klingon Empire attempted to expand its territory in the sector. Upon Commander Miracle's promotion, he was placed in command of the Coral Sea on Stardate: 87995.16.

The Akira-Class Coral Sea since Stardate 87997.25 has seen quite some improvements. Since its commissioning it has been refitted two times, now giving it the designation NCC-93529-B. The first upgrade was not long after its third tour along the Cardassian Neutral Zone at Deep Space Nine, after almost being destroyed in an engagement with the True Way. Before this upgrade, the Coral Sea saw almost three years of sitting in mothballs for spare parts as logistical support for other Heavy Escort vessels. A full upgrade to the weapons ports and an integrated Phaser Point Defense System, for which the Akira design would be the testbed, was added. It also received an upgrade to its warp engines after around six years without a major upgrade. After initial tests with the Phaser Point Defense System on the Coral Sea, the upgrades made its way around the fleet, with ships of different types being outfitted. They soon were installed on anything from the newest Discovery-class Science Vessels, to the older and slower Galaxy-class Cruisers. Far from being standard, they provided additional firepower for slower moving vessels from attacks by frigates and fighters as the number in Klingon Carrier Battleships rose.

Image
The “B” Class refit was much more dramatic. Staying true to the Akira-class’ mission, a Photo Torpedo Point Defense System was added to boost its torpedo load out and the small craft hanger was slightly expanded to host a wing of Peregrine Attack Fighters to deploy in battle. Additional weapons slots were also installed and the Structural Integrity System of the entire ship was upgraded. The bridge was completely modified to reflect advances in command interface and consoles of the current modern fleet. Other modifications included more powerful shield generators, EPS system restructure, and an upgrade in the standard deflector shield array. The "B" Class refit also came at a time of rapid Starfleet Escort expansion. Again, the older Akira designs and that of the Coral Sea and few others of the type were the test bed for this expansion. This lead to the current Armitage-class Heavy Escort Carrier, the more modern and popular escort ship now being employed by Starfleet. The shipyards could not keep up with the shear demand of new Armitage orders. So by request of certain captains and the Logistics and Production Command, older mothballed Akira, Oslo, Zephyr, and Thunderchild-class vessels would be part of a fleetwide upgrade.

Image
After its relaunch, the Coral Sea, after being in Mothballs for about three years after the testing of the Phaser Point Defense System, was reassigned to Deep Space Nine to help the 12th Fleet take on the Borg. Following its complete systems refit, the shake down cruise was completed at DS9 with the deployment of the fighter wing and organized tactical maneuvers being practiced. Over time, the Coral Sea enjoyed a large upgrade of its current weapons to the newer Mk XII Phaser cannons and turrets as well as photon torpedoes.

The philosophy for the Coral Sea compared to other escorts has been a little different. The focus of its refit has been to maximize power output but also survivability of the shipframe. All engineering and science depts of the ship have prioritized ship-wide repair of shields and hull systems over research or enemy ship disabling abilities. The mind of the engineers using the Coral Sea to test these new point defense systems and other systems focused on the Coral Sea being primarily a warship. With the threat of the Borg returned among the other conflicts in the quadrant, the sole purpose of the Coral Sea refit was to dish out as much damage as possible while being able to take the same punishment. The ship proved this ability in a number of one-on-one Starfleet exercises and its first tours against the Borg. On numerous occasions being able to engage multiple Borg ships while awaiting reinforcements or for damaged vessels to flee.

Currently, the Coral Sea was reassigned to the 12th Fleet's Section 31 Beta Squad and is stationed as part of a combined fleet called Battle Group Omega in the Cestus Sector. Since its deployment to fight the Borg, it has fought many battles with Battle Group Omega and ships of the Starfleet's 12th Fleet. After a 10 month assignment, it was recalled to the Risa Sector to participate in a Combined Fleet Combat Exercise with ships of the 12th Fleet and other ships of the fleet. In three combat exercises, the 12th won two of the three with the Coral Sea scoring a number of kills. It has since returned to duty and completed tours with Battle Group Omega and how has been assigned to sector security at Starbase 243 in support of operations to aid New Romulus.

First Officer: Shelana
Current Station: Lt Tactical Station/First Officer

Commander Shelana is Andorian who joined Starfleet once she was finished with her normal schooling. She was fourth in her class at the Academy and took an interest in Tactical as a career early in the Academy, during her first year. She thrived in ground combat scenarios, devising cunning ambush and hit and run tactics. Skills she translates into victories even when it comes to space combat. Shelana and James Graduated in the same class at the Academy and were both assigned the U.S.S. Contour Centaur-class Light Cruiser in the Armory. When the Contour was attacked by the Borg on a routine training mission in 2407, James and Shelana both rushed to the bridge to investigate after the ship lost power. When they arrived, half the senior staff was dead and the others too injured to command. Ensign Miracle took command as Shelana took the Tactical controls. With the help of Engineering, the ship restored power and managed to hold off the Borg until a rescue fleet arrived.

Following that, Ensign Miracle was commended and given the Contour as a command. He then requested that Shelana take the Tactical station as a permanent post for his ship. They have served together ever since. Shelana has served as Tactical on many vessels, rising through the ranks and being reassigning with James, per his request, to the following ships. The U.S.S. Guadalcanal Saber-class Escort, U.S.S. Coral Sea-A Akira-class Heavy Escort, U.S.S. Contour-A Galaxy-class Exploration Cruiser, U.S.S. Wake Island Defiant-class Tactical Escort, U.S.S. Contour-B Sovereign-class Assault Cruiser, U.S.S. Forsaken Vanguard-class Star Cruiser, and finally back to the U.S.S. Coral Sea which is her current assignment. Being the officer he has been with the most, James has assigned her to be the First Officer for the past two assignments. She is still an active member of the bridge crew and mans the Lt Tactical Station on the bridge of the Coral Sea.

Chief Engineer: Cedric
Current Station: Lt Commander Engineer Station/Away Team/Second Officer

Chief Engineer Cedric is a human, born in Florida on Earth’s North American Continent. He Commissioned in Starfleet as an Engineer specializing in Warp and Impulse Engines on 2407. His love of engineering grew out of his tinkering with objects as a kid. Working on his father’s boats in Florida helped him take on a love for engines. After graduation, his first assignment was the U.S.S. New Dawn as an Impulse Engine Specialist. He served for a year on that vessel before being reassigned to the U.S. S. Contour once James had taken command. He was picked for his extraordinary engine skills and technical knowhow when the Contour was forced to “man up” following its hard fought battle with the Borg. His first assignment being the Chief Engineer of the Contour. A huge job for an ensign that had one year’s worth of experience on a larger vessel as an engine technician.

Since then, Cedric has been the Chief Engineer on every vessel James has commanded, at the request of the Commander himself. Of these ships, they have been listed in Shelana’s record. Cedric also is assigned as a member of the away team. His skills in fabricating parts, weapons, and shields for other members on the ground makes him invaluable when outnumbered. He also has experience in fighting the Borg hand to hand and uses this knowledge to better the tactical skills of crewmembers aboard ship.

Operations Officer: Five of Seven
Current Station: Engineering/Ops

Commander Five of Seven is human, a rescued Borg drone from a mission when James was in command of the Forsaken. Originally from Imaga system in the Risa Sector, her and her fiancé were among many who were assimilated when the system was attacked during the rise of Borg attacks that escaped through the transwarp gate and wrenched havoc through the sector. She was assimilated in 2409 and was a Borg drone for two years, when in 2411 the Forsaken became engaged with her assigned cube. During the battle, she was ordered to beam aboard and damage the Forsaken’s systems in a away team raid. The security teams aboard the Forsaken engaged them, and during the fight Five of Seven was found disabled and left for dead by the Borg cube when they beamed the surviving drones back. After the Forsaken had destroyed the cube, the crew went about repairing the ship and when Five of Seven was found still functional, she was taken to sickbay to be treated. After six months of therapy, she was beginning to function as a normal human being. Commander Miracle then assigned her to Engineering, where she had some background and continues that work today aboard the Coral Sea.

Five of Seven is Second in Command of Engineering, helping Cedric with duties below deck while he is otherwise busy on the bridge or off duty. Even though Commander T’Pau is senior to Five, she was promoted over her due to her experience with the Borg and high efficiency at prepping the Coral Sea to combat them using salvage technology in ship-wide upgrades. On numerous occasions, Five of Seven has proven her worth to the crew by knowing Borg tactics in detail as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Along with the intel and various Borg ship upgrades, the Coral Sea has managed to survive multiple tours of duty with Battle Group Omega thanks to Five of Seven and her insight.

Chief Science Officer: Usoila Bruh
Current Station: Science Dept/Away Team/Third Officer

Commander Bruh is from Betazed on the far south continent and given their long standing history as allies to the Federation, Bruh, like many others, joined Starfleet when of age. Like many Betazoids, she has empathic and telepathic abilities that aid her in her career. From a young age, Bruh was always interested in medicine. When at Starfleet Academy she decided to join the Medical Corps and after 6 years received a degree in General Medicine as well as Hazard and Shield Emitter Technology. Graduating in 2407, her first assignment was Medical Technician aboard the U.S.S. Leipzig. She served aboard that vessel for two years when she was selected to be the Chief Science Officer on the U.S.S. Contour during its repairs in spacedock. While on the Contour for its three tours and on the Guadalcanal, as well as the Coral Sea, Bruh was not only the Chief Science Officer, but the Chief Medical Officer as well. It wasn’t until later Commander Lunene took the CMO position and left Bruh to be in charge of the Science Dept.

Being the third most senior bridge officer and one with the most medical experience, Bruh accompanies on away teams and acts as a combat medic. Her role in away team operations allows her to keep current in medical status and allows her to utilize some of her emitter skills in confusing enemy troops. Bruh has also been with Commander Miracle since the Contour, and is one of the three original bridge officers picked to replace the dead senior staff along with Shelana and Cedric.

Chief Medical Officer: Lunene
Current Station: Sickbay

Commander Lunene is a Trill officer who did not look to Starfleet right away as her career path. Instead, Lunene first and foremost wished to be joined. She studied for years and became interested in medicine after her grandfather passed away when she was 14. When she was of age, she joined the Trill Initiate Program to pursue becoming joined. While in her third year as an initiate, she mistaken a chemical compound for another during an exam that caused her to fail the test by one point. Distraught, Lunene returned home and gave up her education for a year.

It wasn’t until a local breakout of a new virus snapped Lunene back into focus from her depression. The city she grew up in with her family started to struggle with this new virus that attacked the elderly. In an effort to save her parents, she returned to research and helped the local hospital to come up with a cure. Only after news of Starfleet’s need for medical personnel did Lunene decide to join. She completed her schooling and received a degree in General Surgery and Microbiology and was commissioned in the Medical Corps of Starfleet as a Lieutenant. Lunene did not serve aboard any ships before being assigned under James’ command; in fact, she was immediately assigned to the U.S.S. Wake Island Defiant-class Escort without any basic Starfleet Training. The need for new medical officers was so demanding that Lunene was in command of the small Wake Island sickbay almost immediately to relieve Commander Usoila Bruh who had been in charge of both Medical and Science depts. on the ship.

Under the watchful eye of Bruh and Commander Miracle, Lunene soon learned to function as an officer in Starfleet. From doing everything from being assigned away teams and organizing the medical bay, she was finally assigned to be the permanent Chief Medical Officer. She still holds that position on the Coral Sea and will continue to do so for some time.

Chief Tactical Officer: Lorw
Current Station: Commander Tactical Station

Commander Lorw is originally from the Klingon homeworld of Qo’noS and had risen to the rank of Lieutenant in the Klingon Defense Force when assigned to a joint detail aboard the U.S.S. Guadalcanal Saber-class Escort. Though odd that Lorw would be assigned to such a task after the failing of the Khitomer Accords in 2409, the Guadalcanal was to proceed on a mission into Romulan Space on reports that the unstable star empire was attempting to expand territory. The Kingons were only interested in this temporary alliance for the fact that they would participate with the Federation in installing cloaked information probes throughout the Romulan side of the boarder to gather intelligence for both sides.

During the mission, the Guadalcanal was attacked when preparing probes for launch. Cedric and Lorw were in the Torpedo Room of the ship when a temporary shield loss in their section resulted in a Romulan distrupter blast to cause a moderate hull breach knocking Lorw unconscious. Cedric then proceeded to drag Lorw to the nearest corridor and sealed the room behind him once the emergency shields became active. Lorw only awaken after the battle in sickbay and then pledged his life to Cedric for saving him. To help pay back his life debt, he joined Starfleet and became the Guadalcanal’s Ensign Tactical Station officer. Because of his experience with known tactical systems and Klingon ship designed strengths and weaknesses he was offered a Battlefield Commission of Lieutenant to keep his old rank. Since then, he has become the Coral Sea’s Chief Tactical Officer in place of Shelana to cover her First Officer duties.

Chief Security Officer: Thalys Eszadev
Current Station: Ensign Tactical Station

Lt Commander Eszadev joined Starfleet a bit later in his life. From a young age, he worked as a miner in the ice fields of Andoria with his father. He did this for a number of years and soon had a family he cared for on his home world. Over a period of time he began to become interested in ships and travel, when Starfleet became more urgently needing capable officers after the fall of the Khitomer Accords, Eszadev joined up.

When attending Starfleet Academy in 2410 he decided on the Tactical to be his career field and graduated with a degree emphasis in Handheld Phaser Technology and Small Unit Tactics. His past experience with mining phasers helped him decide on his career and he is an expert in field stripping and modifying all types of phaser systems. Eszadev joined the crew as a new Tactical Officer replacement aboard the U.S.S. Contour-B Sovereign -class Cruiser during its rotation from the frontlines in the fight with the Borg. Within the next engagement as a member of ship security, he found himself face to face with the Borg threat on the ship. Fighting from deck to deck to defend vital systems, he gained a large amount of experience faster than his newly graduate peers being thrown into combat so early. Within this second week of his first tour, the Contour’s Chief of Security was fatally wounded in a close-quarters engagement with the Borg and needed to be replaced. He was given a Battlefield Commission to the rank of Lieutenant and placed as Chief of Security in his place.

Eszadev served another two tours of duty aboard the Contour against the Borg before being transferred to the Coral Sea where he now holds the position of Chief Security Officer as well as Ensign Tactical Station on the bridge.

Science Officer: Shyyo Url
Current Station: Lt Science Station

Lt Commander Url is originally from Bajor and grew up in the Kendra Province of the planet. His family owned a Kava farm in the province and for many years they had healthy harvests that provided for them. As a child, Url loved the sciences. He became interested in botany and temporarily studied it in school to help his family’s farm. Later as he finished is primary schooling, he showed interest in knowing more about science and wished to pursue a career in Starfleet. Not having any Starfleet background in his family, or that of scientific studies, he was hesitant to join right away. It wasn’t until his older brother had returned from the local university to take the farm in his father’s place did Url finally decide to attend Starfleet. With someone to help take over the family farm after he was gone, he decided he did not need to stay behind.

Later that same year, he attended Starfleet Academy on Earth and became overwhelmed with the different sciences he could choose from. He later decided and pursued a degree in Sensor Spectral-analysis and Gravitational Studies. His first assignment was Junior Science Officer aboard the Science Vessel U.S.S. Truman as it charted gravitational eddies in sectors around the Romulan Neutral Zone. After a number of tours on the Truman, Url was finally transferred to the U.S.S. Contour-B Sovereign-class Cruiser as Assistant Science Officer. During this time he was assigned to away teams and held studies in the Science Dept aboard both the Contour and the Forsaken before holding the Lt Science Station on the newly refitted Coral Sea. He currently holds that post and directs science efforts of shield and hazard systems aboard ship.

Engineering Officer: Ryaxata Sopon
Current Station: Engineering/Away Team

Commander Sopon is from Betazed and like many Betazoids, grew up with the interest of joining Starfleet. From modest beginnings, Sopon grew up helping her father in his local shop tinkering with gadgets and machines like replicators and generators in the town. For many years she helped her mother and father run the machine shop and was prepared to carry on the family business. Sopon longed to attend school and follow her dream to work on state of the art generators and machines but knew the importance of the family business, being an only child meant the responsibility of caring for the family fell to her. When it became apparent that Starfleet needed more personnel as war broke out, Sopon’s dream was realized. Her parents understood that desperate times called for desperate measures and fully supported her decision to attend the Academy. Thousands of Betazoid applicants flooded Starfleet as the planet supported its need for additional officers.

Sopon attended the Academy in 2406 and took an interest in Engineering like what she did back home. Unlike most Betazoids who specialized in telepathic and empathic abilities and decide to join as counselors or medicine, Sopon’s love for parts and making things work drove her to the Engineer Corps. After four long years of study, she graduated in 2410 with a degree in Machine Fabrication and Generator Maintenance and was assigned to the U.S.S. Berlin as part of the Engineering team. After two years of ship experience, she was transferred to the U.S.S. Forsaken, Vanguard-class Star Cruiser when it returned to DS9 short of personnel after a tour fighting the Borg. Since then, she has specialized in Engineering tasking below decks and assigned to the Away Team because of her experience in fabricating field defenses and generators. Her current assignment is as a member of the Away Team on the Coral Sea and she one day hopes to return home to take over the family business.

Engineering Officer: T’Pau
Current Station: Engineering/Away Team

Commander T’Pau was born in 2365 and raised on Vulcan with her family where they have a long tradition of Starfleet service. Her mother taught at the Vulcan Science Academy while her father was a Starfleet Tactical Officer who taught at Starfleet Academy. Attracted to both fields she tried her hand at science first. Though she was good at math and some physics she had trouble with concepts of gravimetrics, astronomy, and chemistry. As she thought about what she would do with her life, T’Pau’s father tried to teach her basic shuttle piloting. She decided to quit when they were almost killed in a near collision when she wondered off course.

For a time, she attended the Vulcan Science Academy to learn Mathematics. She planned to get her degree and then teach at the academy like her mother. Everything changed when she was approached by a Starfleet Officer who was on leave and discussed engineering. At the time, Starfleet was on the recovery from the Dominion War and engineers were needed in all posts to help with the repairs. When T’Pau was offered a scholarship she had made her decision.

She attended Starfleet Academy in 2379 and graduated in Mechanical Engineering and Fabrication. Her first assignment was Starbase 53 where she did work on the station and various vessels that had come in for repairs and upgrades. After three years, she was transferred to the U.S.S. Kittyhawk where she was assigned the night shift and carried out duties there. After a number of years the U.S.S. Contour-B, Sovereign-class Cruiser came to Earth Space Dock for a shield generator replacement and T’Pau was transferred as Assistant Engineer. She remained Assistant Engineer when the crew transferred to the newly retrofitted U.S.S. Coral Sea when Five of Seven was promoted second in command of Engineering over her during their tours aboard the U.S.S. Forsaken. She is currently third in command of Engineering and is assigned to the Coral Sea Away Team.

[*1] The casualty rate is calculated for the U.S.S. Guadalcanal as a unit, or military station, thus the fully manned ship was 50 crewman. During the tour, casualties were 107 crew, or just over twice its compliment. In other words, the Guadalcanal, as a unit seen by Starfleet Command received a 214% casualty rate, or the need to replace the entire crew due to dead and wounded, over two times.

[*2] The Starfleet Honor Guard much like its predecessors of early Earth militaries were created to carry on the traditions of flag and ceremony at Starfleet events. At the time of James' attendance of the Academy, the Honor Guard had fallen in a sad state of affairs. Poor equipment and lack of cadets attending the program saw it slip into the background. Since then, it has recovered and the Starfleet Honor Guard units all over the Federation carry on its traditions on ships and stations.
