Biographical data:
Aria Vala is the 6th host of the Vala symbiote. Aria was born Aria Ergan, the child of unjoined Starfleet officers Jolan Ergan, a security officer, and Kalia Ergan, a nurse. Aria grew up on the USS Nautilus, a light cruiser whose primary mission was to monitor major trade lanes within Federation space to render aide should something happen to one of the freighters travelling along it.
Aria excelled at her computerized classes in science and technology. At age 16 she became the youngest trill to gain entry to the Starfleet Academy. During the course of her time at the Academy she excelled at Engineering, ground combat tactics, and warp core theory. At age 20 she was assigned to the U.S.S. Esperanto, a newly commissioned Akira-class vessel, as an engineer. After 2 years of service she received a leave of absence to enroll in the joining program, after being deemed biologically compatable with the symbiotes. Another 2 years later she had been cleared by her field docent and was informed that she would be contacted when a suitable symbiote was found. 5 months later she was told that her father’s old friend and chief of security on the Nautilus, Egren Vala, had passed away from complications resulting from plasma burns, and that just before dying he requested that Aria be the next host. After verifying that the symbiote hadn’t been harmed and that it and Aria were psychologically compatable the Symbiosis Comission accepted Egrens request and conducted the joining. After ensuring that the joining was complete and no complications had arisen Aria was allowed to rejoin Starfleet. She was posted to Utopia Planitia where she assisted in making the next generation of warp core more efficient. After the initial design was completed and the project was accepted for testing in a full scale vessel she was transferred to the U.S.S. Asimov, a nebula-class vessel that was being refitted to contain the most up to date parts.
