Elysia wandered the station for a little before she decided to settle in the room that had been created for silent meditation and designed with seperate 'chambers' where the ones who came there could be alone.
She sat down at a small table and took a deep breath. For a while though, she didn't look at the files on the PADD. She was assessing the people she'd met so far. One was Vulcan, one was betazoid like herself, two humans.
So she'd already met most of the Bridge crew with whom she would be working. She still had to meet the Chief Engineer, seeing as she would also be working closely with him in her position as Senior Operations Officer. She really hoped he wasn't a telepathic or empathic being. She'd always had some problems controlling her strong empathic abilities, not being a full betazoid...
She had also assessed the ranks of those whom she'd met. All of them were either in higher rank that her or more experienced, or both. She felt humbled to know that she'd be working with so many skilled people but it also terrified her in a way. They probably had pretty high standars that she'd have to try and live up to. ANd what would happen if she couldn't??
She took a few minutes to carefully consider the decision she'd made about being transferred. Had she been out too fast?? Should she have gotten more experience before she applied to be a member of such an important crew??
The Romulans were no joke. She'd seen the destruction they could cause. She'd felt it... Would she have been better off staying as a counsellor on the Academy? She wasn't an agressive person by nature although admittedly, she DID have the temper of a red-head. But she'd learned to control it. No, she was more of a diplomatic personality...
But then she got a stern expression in her eyes. No. There was a reason for why she'd wanted to be a part of this... Indoubtedly, she WOULD disappoint the others at one time or another. But they would just have to get over it!
The telepathic minds on the Bridge worried her though. She had never felt very comfortable around other telepaths. Which was part of why she was so thankful to have been raised on Earth... But on this mission, she'd be forced to work very closely with them. "I hope I can handle it" she said, cursing her Betazoid abilities to a place far, far away again. Not that she'd ever be able to function without them though... Sometimes they were just... inconvenient. And she was really bad at controlling them, however much she wanted to be capable of doing just that...
Sighing, she now returned her attention to the PADD the Admiral had handed her and started reading through the files on it...
