YOU :!: are Invited to
The Fleet-Wide Squad of the Month Meet!

The scheduling of the November Meet is now OPEN.

Hello All,

Time to schedule this month's Meet!
  • The leading option currently is Saturday the [17th].

The other choices are: Sunday the 25th, Saturday the [24th], and Sunday the 18th .

Scheduling Rules:
Post your scheduling choice in a reply below. Note that dates you say you cannot attend are more important than the dates that you say you prefer in deciding the date of the meet. We are trying to get the highest turn out of all squad members for the competition in the first hour. Thus, if 5 people prefer a date but 1 more can attend only on another date, then the date on which 6 can attend will win even though 5 of the 6 preferred a different date. It is assumed that you can attend all the date options, unless you clearly state otherwise in a post below or have communicated that fact to me directly.

Extra weight is given to the votes of squad captains, squad XOs, and anyone who is actually committing to showing up at a time (as opposed to "maybe" showing). Scheduling depends ultimately on who wants to participate and who will actually show up. In order to get the maximum turn out from US and European members, our starting time is traditionally set on a weekend at 10 PM in UK (which in winter is the same as GMT/UTC), but the time chosen depends on who is committing to be there.

What is Squad of the Month?
The Squad of the Month ("SotM") meet is a monthly fleet event which starts with an inter-squad competition to determine the Fleet's Squad of the Month. The competition is followed by group activities which may include: build advice, challenge match PvP, teaming up to cruise the PvE/PvP queues, and just hanging out together on TS. We are a casual fleet, and participation in any portion of SotM is optional.

We are still experimenting with the competition being based purely on attendance. PvP is included as an option for ties and as part of the post competition activities. (See Changing Squad of the Month Rules.)

I work the weekend of the 24th and 25th, off the weekend of the 17th and 18th. The company is shortening our hours for the remainder of the year so that we don't work any overtime. I might be able to arrange to get off at noon on the 25th.

That puts Saturday the 17th in the lead then. :)

The 17th is no good for me unfortunately. I'll be gone all weekend. I might be able to do the 18th.

Hmm, I have a conflict with volunteer work on the night of Sunday the 18th that would be difficult to work-around, so unless you are a definite for that night (or someone else chimes in with a conflict for the 17th), I am keeping the favored date as the 17th. Date selection will close tomorrow.

PS: As you elected not to take on a Squad CO position when you became Tactical RA, Squad Captain Zoltan get's preference over you in SotM date selection. :P

My train trip and hotel stay are booked so it's definitive for that night.

To be Rear-Admiral of Tactical and Captain of Gamma squad? That would put Pattern's position in-between? How does that work? :?:

Tactical Command is not just in charge of Tactical. It seems that S31 Alpha is missing a CO. Kuvak was CO of Tactical Beta all the time he was Tactical RA, so there is some precedent. However, you would need approval of your VA. ;)

Oops, missed that first part with my last post. By definite, I am taking it you mean, it is definite that you are booked up and won't be able to make the 18th?

It is only if you are definite that you will make it to SOTM on the 18th that I would switch to that date. Sorry, maybes carry less weight. :)

Well if you had solved that global warming problem you wouldn't be in this mess. Honestly, we really expect more initiative on such minor details from our captains, so that we in high command can concentrate on matters of import, like when we will have our tea. Ah well, we'll give you a pass this week. ;)

Incidentally, glad to hear you weren't incinerated. :bolian:
