REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS

Everyone is welcome to join 12th Fleet as long as they are suitable to join our community, and meet the age requirements set out by Star Trek Online's EULA.

As per the STO EULA (Terms of Service), anyone under the age of 13 years old is not permitted to create/use an account. Furthermore, if you are between the age of 13 & 18 years of age a parent/guardian has to read all of the associated terms and conditions etc, and is in agreement with them.

As such, 12th Fleet unfortunately can not accept any application from someone under the age of 13. If you are between the age of 13 & 18 years of age, by applying to join 12th Fleet you are confirming that a parent/guardian has read all of the associated terms and conditions etc, and is in agreement with them.

12th Fleet is a community of over 200 people of varying ages, ethnicities, religious beliefs, sexual preferences and who may not have English as their first language. We expect people to leave their opinions on these matters at the door, and ask that everyone accepts each other for who they are, with no discrimination.

We ask that you fill out your application yourself, without copy/pasting answers from others, or using others for ideas of what to write. Doing so may result in instant Denial of application.

Do not lie or leave out information on your application. If you cannot remember something, fair enough, but if it is clear that you should be able to remember (such as being in another Fleet recently) then your application may be Denied.

*NOTE 12th Fleet is based only in the PC version of Star Trek Online. We have no presence or fleet in the PS4 version of the game. We are also a Federation fleet. While we have a Klingon Defense Force fleet in which members may explore that alternative play style, all members are required to have at least one character in our Federation fleet which will be their main character for the purposes of tracking their activity requirement.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1) Copy the Application Form (only text inside CODE box)

2) Create new topic in the Recruitment Forums and put the subject of your application as “Application (CHARACTER NAME@HANDLE)”

3) Paste the application form into created topic.

4) Fill in the blanks. Please number the Divisions 1-4 (1 being 1st preference) within the ( ) spots.

5) Your application will first be edited to read "[PROCESSING]" this means that a member of Command staff is performing a security check of your application.

6) [Optionally] Your application may be edited to read "[INFO NEEDED]" this means that there is a question about your application that we would like answered first before we can process it any further.

After this two things may happen:

7a) If you pass the security check, your post will read “Application (NAME) [APPROVED] (DIVISION)”. Your forum rights will be upgraded to fleet member level.

7b) If you don't pass security check your application will read “[DENIED]”. The reason for this will be included in application form. Your application topic will be closed.

8) Within 24 hours of your being "APPROVED", a Command member of your division will post your division acceptance, assign you to a squad within the division, and send you invites to the Fleet and fleet chat in game. After you get your division assignment you are officially a Recruit. Your application will read “[ACCEPTED]”. Your forum rights will be upgraded to division member level.

APPLICATION STATUS

  • PROCESSING - We have seen your application and a security check is in progress.
  • APPROVED- This is short for security check passed. We check every recruit to see if he or she would fit in with the rest of the fleet. This process is intended to keep the fleet drama free. If you see this status in your application it means you passed the security check and you're now a full member of the fleet. Your forum rights should get updated at that moment too, or otherwise will be shortly after.
  • INFO NEEDED- If you see this status then somebody tried to do a security check on your application, but is lacking information to complete the check. In that case there is a question in your application that we would like answered before we can process it any further.
  • ACCEPTED - One of the divisions accepted you and you are now assigned to Ensign rank (or its equivalent in MACO and Section 31) and invited to the fleet in game.
  • DENIED - You failed the security check and you can't join the 12th Fleet.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR RETURNING MEMBERS

Case 1 - it has been less than a month since you were kicked from the fleet for inactivity:
Full Reinstatement: In the first month after you are kicked from the fleet for inactivity, you may ask your division VA to grant you full reinstatement, that is, to invite you back into fleet at your former rank without further penalty. VAs have absolute discretion with regard to granting requests for full reinstatement to their division less than a month after a member is kicked for inactivity.

Case 2 - You left the fleet or it has been more than a month since you were kicked from the fleet for inactivity:
Reapplication: You must re-apply to join the fleet. In the application please mention that you are a returning member and why you left the fleet. Members returning after more than a month absence will be Recruit level (including all restrictions on access to the fleet's stores and bank) for probationary period of 30 days before regaining full membership.

Case 3 - you are a member of the VETERANS division :
Message Division Vice Admiral: Veterans do not have to re-apply to join the fleet. PM the VA of the division to which you wish to transfer and the Fleet XO, and they will take care of it. It is up to the discretion of the VA (or the rules of the division) as to what Fleet rank you will be assigned on transfer from Veterans to an active division.

RECRUITS

New Recruit Probation period:
All newly accepted members are subject to a 30-day probation period. During this period the members have the in-game rank of Recruit and are not protected by the Strike Kick Rule (that is, they may be removed from the Fleet based on only 1 strike). After passing the 30-day probation period, the recruit is promoted to full member. This is one of the security measures we have in place to protect the integrity of our community.

The 30-day probation period starts from the day the member's application was posted in Recruitment, so that there is no penalty for delay in processing and acceptance of the application.

Recruit limitations:
Recruit rank members have limited access to Fleet resources in game as follows:
  • No personal access to fleet bank (no deposits and no withdraws)*
  • No access to fleet stores (but recruits have permission to donate, so fleet credits can be earned while a recruit, and then spent when promoted to member)

* If you want to deposit or withdraw something from the fleet bank while at recruit rank, you may ask a fleet officer (captain rank or above) to assist, as they have discretion to do that.
