I am Marcosore, 47 Earth-years old, the capten of "SWE Grynsteg 1" and it's besattning (crue).
First of all I have to say this, I have never used this Earth language you call English. Everything I know about it I learned during thiese last years listening at massages to Earth and back. We, my crue and I, do hope you understand us.
The reason why I am sending this message to you in "The 12th Fleet" are:My crue and I have decided to join the Federation as soon as possible. And we have found "The 12th Fleet" to be a good choice.
(Valhalla is where my relatives has gone in the past. Bless them all!)My relatives (
humans) left the Earth, Skandinavia, 250 earth-years ago, to explore the space. I think their Viking blood forced them to go where noone else has been before. Unfortunately I am the only one left from that bloodline. Everyone else on this ship are born here by other humanoids. Some has been saved from slave traders and has nowhere else to go.
During the last ten years we have been all over the quadrant buying and selling whatever, to whoever, we could make business with. We have managed to stay outside any larger conflicts during thiese years. But resently we were attacked by an unknown group of ships, at least eight, and we were almost destroyed. They took everything we had in our cargobay, and some cruemen went to Valhalla too. We managed to escape even if we were badly damaged, thanks to our cloaking device. The device was untested but it worked. There is a problem with it though, if we turn it off everything goes, even life-support.
I am not going to lie. The crue and I have came up to the conclusion that we have to join a fleet. It is our only way to get us up fit for fight again. As I said, "SWE Grynsteg 1" is badly damaged (
well, it's old too). We managed to come here, close to Earth, and land on the dark side of the moon, near a base. Our life-support, astrometrics, and the cloaking device are still running, but it's all we can get up (
we still have something similar to your replicators). Our enginere's told me it will take at least till Mars 2409 to make "SWE Grynsteg 1" run good enough for a take off.
Plan B is that we have to get us a new ship (
We have one prepered for us at 5 February 2409). It would be bad due to we have to leave all the goodies we built into "SWE Grynsteg 1". It would take us at least a year to install it to the new ship (
SWE Grynsteg A), if it will be possible at all. If we move on to this new ship we have to blow this one up. I am not going to tell you why, I can't due to my responsibility to my crue.
During this time, almost three month, at the black side of the moon, we have been listening/watching almost everything sent out from the Starfleet Command (
yes, we can do it with this ship) and we have noticed some leeds pointing at a free group of Klingons who were responsible for that last attack. This was the final reason wich made us all to fall for the StarFleet in this latest war/conflict.
We have read the "Interstellar Law and Treaties: Starfleet General Orders" and everyone on this ship has accepted to join the Starfleet, and esp. "The 12th Fleet", if accepted, without any doubts (
If not. Don't try to find us, you can't).
Well, some of us didn't like the "punishable by death" part (
GO 7). But we can accept it for now (
It's war).

Btw, I'm not a hard core role player. I just thought it could be fun to make a background story 
I played some mmo:s and I liket PvE best, and it's what I prefere (but i won't say no to some PvP when it comes to that). I don't play much at all right now, just waiting for STO 
In STO I think I would like to fly an Escort or maby play as an explorer. I don't think I know enough yet to choose.
