YOU are Invited to
The Fleet-Wide Squad of the Month Meet!

By order of the Council of Admirals, after completion of the competition portion of the Meet, there will be a drawing at this month's SotM for:

PRIZE GIVE-AWAY
:!: 20 Million Energy Credits :!:

The scheduling of the August Meet is now OPEN.

Hello All!
Time to schedule the next SotM!

The leading option is Saturday the 21st.

The other choices are: Saturday the 14th, Sunday the 22nd, or Sunday the 15th.
I am on vacation hiking in California the weekend of 28th-29th, so unable to make it then. If the 14th is chosen, the scheduling will closed on August 9th in order to give enough notice of the event.

Scheduling Rules:
Post your scheduling choice in a reply below. Note that dates you say you cannot attend are more important than the dates that you say you prefer in deciding the date of the meet. We are trying to get the highest turn out of all squad members for the competition and prize give-away in the first half-hour. Thus, if 5 people prefer a date but 1 more can attend only on another date, then the date on which 6 can attend will win even though 5 of the 6 preferred a different date. It is assumed that you can attend all the date options, unless you clearly state otherwise in a post below or have communicated that fact to me directly.

Extra weight is given to the votes of squad captains, squad XOs, and anyone who is actually committing to showing up at a time (as opposed to "maybe" showing). The date and time chosen depends ultimately on who wants to participate and who will actually show up.

What is Squad of the Month?
The Squad of the Month ("SotM") meet is a monthly fleet event which starts with an inter-squad competition to determine the Fleet's Squad of the Month. The competition is followed by group activities which may include: build advice, challenge match PvP, teaming up to cruise the TFO queues, and just hanging out together on Discord. We are a casual fleet, and participation in any portion of SotM is optional.

Rules for Competition: The winner of the competition is determined by attendance during the first 15 minutes of the meet ("the grace period"). The squad with the most members logging into the Discord channel during the grace period wins. However, if any squad shows up with its full membership during the grace period but still does not have enough numbers to win the competition, then the result will be a tie between all squads with their full membership attending and the squad with the largest number of members attending. If there is a tie, then the winner of the competition will be determined either by dice roll (".roll" using the Security Bot on Discord), or by any other method agreed upon between the tying parties (e.g., PvP match, trivia question, etc.). Any method other than dice roll for resolving a tie, must be approved by the convener of the meet (normally me) as being swift enough to be resolved simply without taking up the whole meet or leaving the winner undetermined beyond the end of the meet.

The 21st is fine for me. The 14th is no good for me, and Sundays in general are problematic.

If we move the competition start time to 3PM CT on the 21st, would that work for you, Ruufus?

Right now, only the 21st is still in the running, as squad captains/COs have registered as unavailable on the other date options.

I can't speak for the rest of S31, but I won't be available this or next weekend due to familial obligations. Has anyone else from S31 reached out to comment?

The proposal is to start the competition portion an hour later on the 21st to accommodate Ruufus (especially to give him a chance at the 20 million EC and the monthly trophy), but we would still start other activities at the normal start time. So far, no definite commitment from Ruufus, but no definite conflict voiced by anyone else to moving the competition portion back an hour, so that appears to be the way to go -- barring more input by tomorrow when I will make the decision final. There is something to be said for continuity of the start time, but the purpose of scheduling is to try to accommodate conflicts of those who want to participate in the competition. Note though, if we do change the time for Ruufus, and he fails to show, his vote will count less in future scheduling.

Scheduling has been open now for over a week. As discussed above, a conflict with the start time was raised, but no objection was voiced to the proposed alternative of delaying the competition portion by an hour. Therefore, the next Squad of the Month meet will be:

Saturday, August 21 at 19:00 UTC (i.e., 8PM BST, 3PM EDT, 2PM CDT, 12PM PDT) :!:

The Meet will commence at the normal start time, but the grace period will be extended an hour until 20:15 UTC, and the drawing for the 20 million EC will take place c. 20:20 UTC after determination of the competition winner.

Note, the August Fleet Meeting will be at 18:00 UTC, an hour earlier than usual, to avoid conflict with SotM.

The scheduling of this month's meet is now CLOSED.

Your Squad Needs YOU!
Saturday, July 31 at 19:00 UTC
(i.e., 8PM BST, 3PM EDT, 2PM CDT, 12PM PDT)

Squad of the Month meet is THIS SATURDAY!

Attendance is a big part of scoring the winner. Don't let your squad go down without a fight!

By order of the Council of Admirals, after completion of the competition portion of the Meet, there will be a drawing at this month's SotM for:

PRIZE GIVE-AWAY
:!: 20 Million Energy Credits :!:

The Meet will convene on Discord in a channel labeled "Squad of the Month" at the time set forth above.

The Squad of the Month ("SotM") meet is a monthly fleet event which starts with an inter-squad competition to determine the Fleet's Squad of the Month. The winning squad gains the Squad of the Month trophy to display in its squad forum until the next meet, and each member of the squad whose attendance contributed to the victory is awarded an SotM ribbon.

NOTE: This month the meet will commence at the normal start time, but the grace period will be extended an hour until 20:15 UTC, and the drawing for the 20 million EC will take place c. 20:20 UTC after determination of the competition winner.

Congratulations to Tactical's Gamma Squad ("Vipers") for winning the Squad of the Month meet for August 2021! Gamma won an attendance victory by mustering five ( ) of its members during the initial grace period. Honorable squad showings were made by other squads as follows, Engineering's Charlie (x2), Engineering's Alpha (x1), and Section 31's Archer (x1).

A prize of 20 million EC from our Fleet Bank was awarded based on dice roll among attenders, with the prize going to:

Rodnny

Kudos to all who participated in the meet, including: the initial competition; prize give-away; grand PvP Match; successful run of the Gon'Cra Battlezone; cruising of TFO queues; and/or build advice that went on until after 10:30 PM Central Time; including as follows:

Cmdraftbrn
Irishhawk
iamtherealbill
JWMT (Howard)
Kuvak
Jem_389
NDStache
OcieDenver
Rodnny
RVault
Stromgold
Volen
