I understand it was in closed beta, but I'd like to know a bit of what to expect especially since I am part of the trade division

Well i can share a few things gleamed from closed beta and dev chats.
Crafting is open to all, there are no trade or crafting skills, nothing like restricting recipies to certain classes/skills so basically anyone can make everything.
Crafting is split into two catagories..resources and bridge officers.
Resource crafting consists of those materials you get from scanning anomalies and drops from mobs. You take these to memory alpha and when fully setup (in closed beta it was empty apart from one NPC) can take these items to a crafting bench for a specific item (weapons, kits or ship equipment) and providing you have the enough stuff, you can craft the available recipes. Once youve crafted enough of one recipe (or a selection of recipes) you get access to more. Apparently crafted items will be "on par" with pvp and pve rewards at all levels.
Bridge officers:
The training of bridge officers is anouther form of crafting in the game. After a discussion with some people in vent im still a little shady on this but i believe it works as this:
Some of the skills you can get you will see if you level up to rank 9 in them you get the ability to teach anouther rank of a skill to one of your bridge officers, Now this im unsure weather it means you still need to goto the power trainer or you can actually give this to them free, have yet to work it out.
ANYWAY.. originally the idea was that each class of captain (science/engineer/tactical) would by admiral rank have a skill that allowed them to teach special skills to bridge officers of the same class, so that a tactical commander could teach tactical officers something a science commander couldnt. This would mean trading your bridge officers to someone else and getting them to train them up for you to get the skills you cant get. This was going to either use some form of window similar to the trade window where your bridge officer would be trained by them and youd give them some cash for it.. however it seems that idea has been dropped and ive yet to see if theres anything at higher levels that does something remotely like this.
