Your right JediInverse its true that SW is about ground combat and STO is about space combat but both series show space and ground combat in its shows. Also both are more navy combat IE STO is Cruisers, Frigates, escorts and Battleships fighting against each other from WWI, then there's SW which is more WWII fighting IE Fighters, Heavy Fighters(like the Millennium Falcon) and bombers With Battle Cruisers and Battle Carriers duking it out.

EA and Bioware could still have added these elements in there game buy making it possible to receive a Large Cruiser or capital ship in the end game or maybe be a fleet ship with PVE were they send there Capital ship to a region to quell an Sith or republic strike. Were you in your factions Starship or fighter can duke it out against AI controled enemy's or a sort of PVP with Guild verses Guild something in that range.

Well maybe with the addition of guild ships this may happen, although I don;t think it is high on Bioware's "to do list"

Yep it would be fun, on the flip side, the last time I ran into a group of Klingons I couldn't help but think "damn I wish my Jedi Guardian were here" she's clean their clocks in about 3 seconds ;)

No, I do not think that SWTOR should have space game play like STO.

Star Wars was never about space exploration. It was about space battles.

SWTOR - with its galactic star fighter release - simulates this very well.

Adding a 3D space exploration simulator to Star Wars would be pointless, unless they are giving us capital ships to fly instead of fighters.

I agree. JTL in Star Wars Galaxies was the closest thing since X-wing Vs. TIE Fighter to Star Wars space combat; the "cinematic" argument that tends to favor the SWTORFox crowd holds absolutely no water for me. For one, it's not even original in design or implementation, and unfortunately, the GSF "Warzone" add on is nothing more than a caffeinated hamster in a jungle gym. There's absolutely no sense of direction, and the gameplay is absolutely dominated by a singular ship role.

STO's space combat is akin to classic Star Trek space gaming (ala Starfleet Command and such); there's nothing comparable in either the movies or game that Star Wars and Star Trek would EVER share in common. I can never and would never embrace any element of STO's space gameplay in SWTOR. While SWG: JTL was imperfect, I would be much happier with that gameplay in SWTOR's space combat than what's currently implemented. I'd even settle for a little toning down of the hyperactive gameplay, joystick implementation, and broadening the scope of the actual space gameplay.

For something that EA/BioWare hyped up to be the "Super Secret Space Project" for over a year, what was delivered might have been the most underpromised, overhyped gameplay addition in MMORPG history.

I'm gonna say no. Star Wars & Star Trek are, no matter what JJ Abrams has to say, completely different.

:sigh: its not about that the verses should be the same but that the space game play could be better in SWTOR similar to x-wing fighter or like STO's space mechanics thats all.

There is so much truth in this statement.
