PERSONALITY

Malcolm is a natural leader, he is always expects total concentration on the task from himself and his crew, while mostly a grim and focused man he can be expected to be approachable and affable when not on duty. Malcolm demonstrates an enormous capacity for self sacrifice and will do whatever it takes to accomplish his mission and protect his crew.

Malcolm is an avid reader and history scholar, he also has a keen interest in politics.

FAMILY

Malcolm saw little of his father after he moved to Luna with his mother and he respected the man if nothing else and the two grew apart after the death of his mother, they did however reconcile their differences before Jacob's death on stardate 78692.87 (2401). he is close to his brother and sister, even if he rarely sees them, Nathan enlisted in Starfleet as an non-commissioned officer and serves onboard the USS Seacole. His sister, Miranda, is a civilian doctor living on Minos Korva.

CHILDHOOD

Malcolm was born onboard the USS Darwin, a Akira class ship, to parents Jacob and Catharine Keyes on stardate 48247.43 (23 of August 2370), his father was the first officer of the ship and his mother served as a medical officer. Malcolm spent 9 years onboard starships before his mother was transferred to the Starfleet hospital at Copernicus City on Luna, he, his brother and sister moved with her, he rarely saw his father as he continued his career. Tragedy struck on 60338.04 (September 25 2382) when Malcolm's mother left for a Medical Conference in the Archanis Sector, the ship she was travelling on, the USS Victoria, was attacked by a large Orion Syndicate raiding party and after an intense fight, was lost with all hands. after the death of his mother, Malcolm and his siblings lived with their father, now a Captain, onboard the USS Hastings, a large Avenger Class ship, where he continued his education, eventually enlisting in Starfleet on his 18th birthday.

STARFLEET ACADEMY

Malcolm followed in his father's footsteps and chose Tactical as his career track. An attentive and eager student, Malcolm thrived on the strict and regimented structure present at the academy, taking history and relations courses in addition to his military studies. His records show two infractions for unauthorised leave over his four year stay, after each disciplinary action, Malcolm would devote himself to his studies, as if to remedy his misdoings. it is during his second year that he meets fellow student Rebecca Goodwin, the two become good friends and spend most of their free time together. Cadet Keyes graduated in the top two percentile of his class in 70356.05 (2392).

ASSIGNMENTS

Ensign Keyes received his first assignment as a security officer onboard the Excelsior class ship USS Iroquois, he receives the Star Cross for assisting in the rescue of a stranded away team member who had been captured by a group of rebels opposed to Federation assistance for
Cardassia.

After a year Malcolm is promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and begins to assume more responsibility onboard the Iroquois.

In 71935.82 (2394) the Iroquois is decommissioned and Malcolm receives a promotion to full lieutenant and a position as chief of security on the Cheyenne class USS Ain Jalut, this is his first experience as part of the command staff of a starship and he takes to his new role well. Later that year Malcolm is chosen as the new Chief Tactical Officer after the resignation of Lieutenant Rytlar.

In late 72521.62 (2395) the Ain Jalut is conducting a survey of the Hyralan Sector when the ship is attacked by an unknown enemy force, the crew and ship perform admirably but are completely outclassed by what now is known to be a Undine Dreadnought, during the fight, the bridge is struck by a direct hit and the senior staff are killed, Lieutenant Keyes rallies the surviving crew and manages to defend the ship until warp capability is restored and the ship is able to escape. for his actions Malcolm is awarded the Christopher Pike Medal for Valour and a promotion to Lieutenant Commander.

Now the Chief Tactical Officer of the Defiant Class USS Tobruk, Malcolm is entrusted with more duties and performs well at his duties but his natural ambition leaves him wanting more. The Tobruk is ordered to head to the Cardassia Sector and participate in operations against the Cardassian True Way. on stardate 74892.76 (2397)Tobruk uncovers an important True Way base inside a Deuterium refinery, producing fuel and explosives for the Terrorist organisation, Lieutenant Commander Keyes Is tasked with the destruction of the facility, his small strike team infiltrate the base and rig the fuel storage system to explode, during their escape from the facility, the squad is detected and a member of the team is critically injured, ordering his team to escape, Malcolm rescued the injured officer and escaped the base in a captured shuttlecraft. in recognition of this action he is awarded the Starfleet medal of Valour.

In 2398 Malcolm is promoted to Commander and is made the First officer of the Imperial Class USS Aegis under Captain T'lai. Commander Keyes becomes a highly respected member of the crew and receives several citations. In 82274.17 (2404) a burgeoning romance develops between Malcolm and his Captain, she suggests that the two officers break it off before any issues develop, a lesson that is lost on the commander, shortly afterwoods Captain T'lai recommends Malcolm receive a command of his own and he is promoted to Captain himself.

After taking command of the Oslo class USS Kilimanjaro, Malcolm is ordered to the Romulan colony world of Talvath as part of the Federation protection program requested by the colonial government in their attempts to declare independence from the Romulan Star Empire. This is his first exposure to a more diplomatic, mediation role, and he takes to the task well, while the mere presence of the ship deters most opportunistic raiders the Kilimanjaro is forced to deal with the occasional hostile ship or tense standoff with a Romulan warship.

After finishing a successful tour of the Talvath system Keyes returns the Kilimanjaro to Sol, bringing with him 3 newly approved Romulan Starfleet hopefuls. It is here that he is reunited with his old friend from the academy Rebecca Goodwin, the two resume their friendship but before long the relationship becomes serious, two months from her assignment to the Kilimanjaro they marry. On stardate 84691.63 (2407) as part of a patrol in the Arucanis Arm an illegal Syndicate run mining station is detected, Captain Keyes orders an away team to neutralise the station, Lieutenant Commander Goodwin is chosen to lead the team, when it became apparent that they were going to lose the station the leader of the syndicate decided that he would take the Starfleet interlopers with him and activated a self destruct, all members of the away team were killed. after this Malcolm took a month of leave and vowed never to develop such a relationship with a subordinate again and he now realised the lesson that his former Captain tried to teach him.

In early 87035.39 (2409) the Kilimanjaro participated in the defence of Starbase 24, during the fierce fighting the ship receives massive damage and is crippled and left adrift. After the battle, the Kilimanjaro is deemed unsalvageable and is decommissioned.

Captain Keyes is put in command of the newly built USS Agincourt, a Prometheus Class Advanced-Escort and joins Starfleet's efforts to defend against the threats of a hostile galaxy.

2410 sees the Agincourt engagaed in a number of vicious battles and thankfuly, several more peaceful endevours. In May of that year Malcom marries his close friend Tharia Vetra.

The youngest of 4 children Tellah Arlea was born on the 09 of April 2373. When she was 8 years old her peaceful and happy childhood was shattered after a True Way Terrorist attack killed her father, a Bajoran Intelligence Service Colonel, and former resistance fighter and her two sisters.
Tellah joined Starfleet after her 20th birthday and after her Graduation was assigned to the Federation Embassy on Cardassia Prime, it was here she was cured of her hatred for Cardassians and went on to lead the Security team.

Natasha Kohl was 15 when her family took a trip from their home on Alpha Centauri to Sol, due to a malfunction in the primary navigation system the where sent off course and into uncharted space, where they were found by a Borg probe, the ship and its 150 passengers where assimilated and she spent the next 22 years as part of the collective. the long range science vessel USS Jefferson encountered a derelict Borg Sphere while on a survey mission and recovered 12 surviving drones. after her liberation she began to regain her memories and dedicated the rest of her life to stoping the Borg and defending the society that saved her. After enlisting and graduating from the academy, where she trained in engineering, she was poached by Starfleet Intelligence. in 2410 she was posted to the USS Agincourt to as Operations Officer, where her knowledge could be put to use.

As a child Six enjoyed cooking, and now that she has regained most of her memories from this time it is a hobby that she has taken up again, often assisting in the mess when off duty.

Standard Tactics

Strengths

the Agincourt's main strengths lay in firepower and maneuverability,the ship's heavy cannon and fast turn rate allow the Agincourt to rapidly disable or destroy a target. The main strategy employed by the Ship and others like her is to approach a target at high speed, pouring a fusillade of cannon fire into the shields of a target, while using the high mobility provided by its efficient engines, after the shield has been breached, a high yield torpedo is fired into the exposed and weakened hull, before breaking off to do another pass and repeat the process.

Weaknesses

as with all escorts the Agincourt is lightly armored and is therefore unable to last long when under concentrated fire, if an escort is alone or its accompanying fleet is distracted an escort can be targeted and destroyed with half the firepower needed to destroy a cruiser, the relative small crew compliment also hinders repair and damage control abilities

History

Commissioned towards the end of 2409 at the famed Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, the Agincourt is one of the many ships being produced to fight the growing number of Federation hostiles, its advanced construction melds two of the most powerful advanced escort classes into one highly advanced warship. this new design has proved itself in several major battles against the borg. The ship is named in commemoration of the Battle of Agincourt on Earth in 1415, where a small group of English soldiers won a decisive victory over a superior French army that outnumbered them almost six to one.
