Hi,
Before I go applying, is it ok if I ask a few questions?
I'm a bit a a newbie having only been playing a day or so. Playing Tactical and will no doubt focus on Escorts. I've started reading up a little about the game as it's slightly more complex than it appears when you first start up (or perhaps that's my habbit of reading too much into things). I've ignored the few in game fleet invites that have popped up so far - I'd rather pick one and ask questions first lol.
1) Gameplay question. Looking at the weapon types / general tactics, if you don't want to be pinned to one spot, I guess it makes sense to go for high weapon damage / coverage, rather than focussing fire in one spot? For overlaps, Beam arrays look like they give the best damage from broadsiding. I'm curious about cannons though. IF you equipped cannons in the front and rear (looks like lower damage than phasers from broadsides), do cannons immediately fire once targets are lined up then have a cooldown? I mean if you tried to broadside with cannons and "wiggled" left and right, would both front and rear sets fire alternately and drive your dps to more or less double? Weird question but I can't see an answer anywhere and if I'm going damage I'd like to milk any oversights before I get blown up.
2) Your divisions. I'm fairly flexible about gameplay. I like to do damage (no shock) and so far prefer the space combat to the ground combat, despite being a noob and being blown up by a Borg mothership twice already
. That in mind, which divisions would that fit with?
Additional info just in case from your form

Arcturio (I think - I'll check the spelling when I'm not killing a quiet patch at work lol)

Googled Star Trek Online Fleets and you popped up.
Not sure about reasons for joining having not spoken to you yet
Divisions - as below - not sure and open to advice lol:
Like any form of PVE - group or solo, but groups more fun with most games when you can get it.
Ground not so good, unless I'm doing it wrong. (Please tell me!)Bugs me when NPC get in line of fire, making targetting harder, and feels a little clunky to me, not so fluid with aim, crouch etc.
Role playing - not really my thing but wouldn't be a first
PVP - admittedly haven't tried it. Most likely would wind up taking a different approach. I guess from the lack of obvious NPC shield redistributions, a PVE player would have more luck with scientific, heavy shield damage and torpedoes?
Federation. Alien race.
Diplomacy? Uhm. Yeah. Sure. What is it?
Usually online around 19:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT weekdays, and more random weekends. I like to get out when I can but if I'm stuck in or on call, probably longer lol.
Played lots of MMOs. Yes I'm ashamed to admit WoW was one of them for many years. Many others soon forgotten
In terms of multiplayer games I just tend to boot up things like Robocraft once in a while for giggles.
Benefit? As a complete nub, the biggest benefit at the moment would probably be making you all look better by comparison lol. Does that count as a paragraph?
Re: Activity policy, I have to clarify. I'm likely to log into the game most days and play for a while. Forums tend to vary and depend how busy it is at work lol. After all, I'm unlikely to be on a forum when I could be in game playing
If it's busy at work, there may be several days between forum trips. If that in line with what you expect?
