Who should I bring . . .

Hi Randall,

We are still looking for three more science ships outfitted for fragment control (see above), but I suspect we can put that together at the last moment from whoever shows up. Otherwise, all ships should come outfitted for maximum DPS solely on the CE (i.e., no area of effect weapons).

If we have too many science ships doing too little DPS that could be a problem, so we mostly want escorts and cruisers after we get the fragment control team filled. However, I cannot say just how bad a problem it would be, since I have never had too many science ships show up before. It may just mean it takes a few minutes longer to finish.

We are aiming at putting together an instance of 20 players, so bring all you can. We will probably have time to run it three times, so anyone who misses out on the first run can catch a later one.

Not necessary to run a pre-run and that would be very difficult to arrange. We have done this 10 times in the last month, and it is not really that hard to do the mission. The hardest part is getting 20 players together.

We should meet at Earth Space Dock in the room with the Boff training officer, because we may want to tweak a few builds before we go in. We will spend some time making sure everyone understands the mission and is equipped correctly. Indeed, we will likely spend more time preparing at ESD then we do in the mission.

It is not necessary anymore to fly to the CE, we will just all join a private instance from ESD.

Ok guys Just checking in. Date and time are still good. Who should I bring for tacs, sci or engineers. I can have then ready when we start. Maybe I can do a test run with you guys before saturday? Let me know what to do and I will make sure we are ready for the event. I am looking forward to playing with you guys.

No worries on the 'test' run... we will talk you through it for the 'setup' on our run. Looks like we may need a couple more "sci" ships... other than that, it doesn't matter as long as whoever comes DO NOT have something from the "not not bring" list.

Looking forward to it!!

Cross-posted from Fleet Events channel because info may be useful for Jupiter Force people who are able to join the Sci Team for fragment control.

I can bring my sci in an Intrepid refit, will have to rearrange my sci BO's though and I do not have repulsors yet (hmm... maybe a good time to pick up that Orion exchange officer). I am assuming the time is 4pm EST. I have not done it the 12th way so instruction will be needed.

Thanks Sorin! 4pm EST it is.

As part of the Sci Team you must equip two Tractor Beam Repulsors. A third repulsor can cut the cool down by about 2 seconds sometimes, so a third repulsor is of some use if you bring one; a forth repulsor is useless because of cool downs. Repulsors version 1 and 2 are fine, no need to scrounge for Repulsors 3. Gravity Well is also very useful, and I would equip Gravity Well III if you are not equipping Repulsors 3. For Sci consoles you might consider equipping with Graviton Generators which help in pushing the fragments. Particle Generator consoles are not as helpful, because we do not want to mass kill fragments in the last stage.

Rules are fairly simple for the Sci Team--we control the fragments while everyone else does DPS on the CE. For the first 60% of the CE's hull points, you should be using AOE weapons and gravity wells on the CE to kill/control fragments. In the last 40% of the hull points, stop all AOE weaspons and gravity wells, and concentrate fire solely on the CE. For the whole operation, but especially in the last stage, use repulsors to keep fragments away from the group. With five ships on the Sci Team not much coordination is needed. With only three ships, we will have to work more to coordinate the repulsor relay in the last stage.

Right now, I'm planning to be there as well....I also plan to set up my spare Sci boff with repulsors, so that I can quickly and easily swap out between STF setup and CE setup...

Hi Delwyn,
When you say you are planning on bringing repulsors, do you mean one or two copies? It is not an ensign ability, so unless you have a Sci Ship or a ship with a universal Boff slot that is Lt. or better (e.g., Oddesey), you can only bring one copy. If you are bringing two copies then we will put you down on the Sci Team (even if you are bringing an Oddesey and not a Sci ship). One copy and you should still come outfitted for DPS, but the backup repulsor will be much appreciated. :)

Of course, Amicus...I should have been more clear...I'm Sci and fly a Luna RSV...so I'll be outfitted with 2 repulsors. And looking forward to working with our friends in Jupiter Force.

If you still need it, I have a Bellerophon with TRB 1&2 and Gravity Well 3. Got THY 1 & BO 2 as well. I might need to change weapons as I have tetryons at the moment.
