i have currently 2x dual cannons + 1x torp at front
what should i have at the rear?
turrets?
combination of 1x turret+1x torp or are beams valid?

Turrets are the classical rear weapon of choice if you ask the STO Forum. The most escorts are front weapon configurations so I won't put torpedos in the rear. That's the normal escort loadout, if your playstyle is different then try what works best for you..

I'm the worst escort captain ever, because I refuse to use cannons on my Prometheus. Its heresy. Its ok though because I have beam overload 3, which is insane.

That being said, generally cannons and turrets in the rear are the standard accepted loadout for "max dps".

I'm tactical/escort.. and I love to prove what's 'accepted' wrong.

however, I really did find that my setup that works best for me.. (highly mobile hit and run style) is the 'accepted' version
front: Quantum Torp, 2 tetryon dual cannon
back: tetryon turret X2
ps I also have a rare plasma turret in a console slot yay
and other 2 tactical consoles are bonuses to tetryon weapons and quantum torpedoes.

This seems to work very well for me.. with rapid cannon 2 and weapons at 100, I can usually mow down any ship before I pass them.

For my alt's heavy escort (Akira,T3), I have the following:

Fore:
Phaser Dual Cannons
Phaser Heavy Dual Cannons
Quantum Torpedo Launcher

Aft:
2x Phaser Turrets.

On my Klingon engineer, I may put on a torpedo launcher in the rear for my BoP Version 3.0, but I haven't tested out the Bird of Prey at that level. I just went with a turret on my Ver 2.0.
