I have jumped on the "Mass Effect" bandwagon and ordered Mass Effect 1 from D2D but It WILL NOT install. I have checked the forums and can't seem to get a real answer.

I'm currently stuck running Vista Home Premium Image but every time I start the install, I get an error.

Any help would be appreciated :)

If you are running an anti virus program on your comp you might need to shut it down for install.. It seems some of the Anti Virus programs out there like to quarantine ME files during install thinking they are harmful.. Just close the Anti Virus , install ME and turn the virus program back on..

Hope that helps :D

Install and run program as an Administrator. That, or change the compatibility tab in Properties to XP, for example.

EDIT: I did a google search for your problem (searched BEX problem vista installer.exe) and found this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738483%28WS.10%29.aspx. Its for Windows Server 2003, but it explains the problem you are having. One solution I found is as follows:

1. Go to your Start menu. Right-click on "Computer" and click "Properties."
2. On the right, there should be an option like "Advanced System Settings." Click it and authorize yourself to get in (stupid Vista admin authorization stupidity!).
3. Your tab should be "Advanced." Click "Settings" under the Performance section.
4. Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" tab and select "Turn on DEP for all programs and serviced except those I select"
5. Install again, then deactivate DEP for all programs by going through all of the steps above and selecting "Turn on DEP for essential Windows Programs and services only"

Take your computer.. unhook all the wires connected to it including usb. Unscrew the printer cable slowly followed by the monitor. Gently pick up the bare pc being careful to hold it waist high. Then go to the nearest window and throw it out as far as you can. Then go to Apple store and pick up an imac.

Couldn't he just buy a piece of scrap metal? It would be better than what you are suggesting.

I had a similar issue when I first started using Steam.

Allowing the program to run as Administrator fixed it for me. So follow those lovely steps from Ikrit and you should be good.

Good luck. :D

Also whatever you do, don't buy a MAC every time you do baby Jesus cries.
